Bernd Weikl, who never had the opportunity to visit the island during his world career as a baritone Opera singer, now comes to see old friends & finds a lot of new friends. Everybody hopes he will return in the near future. The singer, who has shared the stage with all the big names of opera, and who is a Kammersänger (an honorary tile given to the best singers) of the Opera in Hamburg, Munich and Vienna, a doctor of economics, an honorary doctor and professor, has long been troubled by the shortcomings of children´s education in the arts, and has thus been urged to promote musical education in schools.

For him, a healthy and fulfilled life, connecting people and peoples, is only possible if we learn to sing again, and sing melodically. Here Weikl became a missionary, and Mallorca his arena to start the campaign for his ideas. After giving a press conference in the Hotel Nixe Palace he went to see the famous painter Gustavo who shares and supports his ideas.  He tried Frito Mallorquin and Roast Pork in the famous and typical Majorcan Restaurant Ca’l Dimoni, he sang with the children´s choir of Lluc monastery, rehearsed with pianist David Mohedano Lemauft in the conservatory where he also reunited with his former stage partner Rosina in the “Barber of Seville” Alicia Nafe. He also talked about his ideas and experiences and presented examples of his art to an enthusiastic audience in the Hotel Son Julia with David accompanying on piano.
